This site-specific wallpaper installation illustrates the history of Elsewhere's building through items and inventories of the various businesses that existed there prior to the space becoming an artist residency. This wallpaper reflects on the sedimentary nature of collection and the massive accumulation of inventory over time.

Elsewhere is an Artist Residency and Living Museum set inside a former thrift store in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The building in which Elsewhere resides has a long, winding, and fascinating history as a series of businesses run by one woman, Sylvia Gray, over the course of 58 years from 1939 until her death in 1997. The business began as a furniture outlet, shifted to Army/Navy surplus in the 1940's, expanded to an upholstery fabric outlet in the late 50's, and overtime morphed into a general thrift store which amassed so much inventory that, by the time it closed in the late 90’s, one could hardly walk through the isles.
