"From Florida with Love"
“From Florida with Love” is a site-specific art installation in the Gallery at the Green Home Store, existing somewhere between a 19th century sitting parlor and a contemporary, if nostalgic, roadside attraction.

The installation features such “wonders and curiosities” as The Postcard Patternscape -- a large-scale wallcovering, assembled from hundreds of vintage Florida postcards, that sources patterns from popular 19th century wallpapers. Further ornamenting the walls are chair-rails and molding of gilded golden macaroni. Also on view is The Gator-Skin Rug -- an eight-foot craftacular alligator “hide” frivolously preserved in glitter, gems, and puff-paint. Viewers and visitors can have their photo taken on the Get Yer Picture Taken platform, write their friends on memento postcards, and enjoy a selection of souvenirs and visitor center-style cups of Florida’s finest orange juice. “And so much more!”

Special thanks to the Grohowskis who very generously donated the postcards used in this exhibition from Tom’s Fruits and Gifts at 1812 A1A South -- the last real bastion of roadside souvenir splendor in St. Augustine.
